Saraswati Puja, 2014
On Sunday, Feb 02, 2014, SNEHA’s Nepali Language Class organized her 7th annual Saraswati Puja followed by a potluck lunch at Hale Halewai, UH Manoa. SNEHA members, language students and teachers participated in the event. During the event, Mr. Jiwnath Ghimire (SNEHA Secretary) welcomed all the guests while Mr. Mandhoj Rai (SNEHA President as well as Coordinator Nepali Language Class) extended especial gratitude to volunteer teacher of the Nepali language class.
Also, at the same time, new members; namely, Shova Mishra and Shilva Shrestha (students at UH Manoa), were welcomed to the SNEHA family.
International Night, 2014
Every year, International
Student Night is held at University of Hawai'i with the aim to promote cultural
understanding and diversity among the students. This years’ event was organized
on March 15, 2014 at Campus Center Ball Room with the theme of “A Voyage
Through Paradise”. Around 300-400 students had teamed up with the spirit to
promote the culture of their respective country. SNEHA participated in the
event with a booth displaying cultural artifacts and a stage performance. A
group of six- Arvin Hontake, Bishnu Bhandari, Sadie Maya, Shilva Shrestha,
Shova Mishra, Sophiya Singh, performed on a medley folk song, narrating a
typical story of Nepali boys trying to impress the girls. SNEHA would like to extend sincere thanks to performers
and volunteers especially Sushil Mulapati (Himalayan
Treasure) for providing crafts and volunteering time in setting the cultural
Nepalese New Year 2071 (B.C.) Celebration, 2014
The evening of 13th April, 2014 at Prince Jonah Kuhio Elementray School was quite different than as usual since all the Nepalese people based in Hawaii were there to celebrate their own new year eve 2071. Participants were wishing happy New Year with each other by sharing own prepared (mostly) delicious foods, and of course, dancing and singing.
