International Night, 2014

Every year, International Student Night is held at University of Hawai'i with the aim to promote cultural understanding and diversity among the students. This years’ event was organized on March 15, 2014 at Campus Center Ball Room with the theme of “A Voyage Through Paradise”. Around 300-400 students had teamed up with the spirit to promote the culture of their respective country. SNEHA participated in the event with a booth displaying cultural artifacts and a stage performance. A group of six- Arvin Hontake, Bishnu Bhandari, Sadie Maya, Shilva Shrestha, Shova Mishra, Sophiya Singh, performed on a medley folk song, narrating a typical story of Nepali boys trying to impress the girls. SNEHA would like to extend sincere thanks to performers and volunteers especially Sushil Mulapati (Himalayan Treasure) for providing crafts and volunteering time in setting the cultural booth.

Nepalese New Year 2071 (B.C.) Celebration, 2014

The evening of 13th April, 2014 at Prince Jonah Kuhio Elementray School was quite different than as usual since all the Nepalese people based in Hawaii were there to celebrate their own new year eve 2071. Participants were wishing happy New Year with each other by sharing own prepared (mostly) delicious foods, and of course, dancing and singing.

Easter Egg Hunt, 2014

SNEHA organized an Easter Egg Hunt event followed by a potluck lunch at Makiki Community Park on April 20, 2014. All the kids from Nepalese community were happy to hunt the eggs. More fun was to watch them running here and there to grab more eggs than other fellow kids. SNEHA would like to sincerely thank to all participants (kids) and event coordinators (namely, Mrs. Mira Sharma, Mrs. Bedika Upadhyaya and Mrs. Bhima Rai) for volunteering time.

Summer Picnic, 2014

On a sunny day of summer (August 3) 2014, SNEHA family members gathered once again at Ala Moana Beach Park to enjoy the summer picnic, an event organized by SNEHA to meet and greet before the start of school. Nothing would have a more fun than having BBQ and jump on the volleyball net. Many thanks to Mrs. Mira Sharma, Mrs. Bhima Rai, and Mrs. Rashmi Agrahari for coordinating this potluck event (which is not always an easy job). Thanks also go to those who dare to BBQ enough chickens under the scorching sun for that many participants.

Dashain, 2014

Himalayan Kitchen (1137 11th Ave. Honolulu, HI 96816) was crowded and noisy one more time at the evening of 28th September, 2014. All the members from SNEHA family were celebrating this years’ Vijaya Dasami with a great joy.
